Kokku, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable foundation and a community of people who share the vision of making the world a better place with the simple principle of Love for one another.
It is not a community with any type of religious or political affiliation. There is no place for that within the Kokku community. The core of Kokku.org is people working TOGETHER to help one another. Kokku members are empowered with the ability to take matters that they hold dear to them into their own hands, and take action on them. |
How did we begin? In 2015, I had a friend of mine that had suffered some financial setbacks as a result of medical bills. I gave them what I could afford to help. But that got me to thinking, what if another friend of ours could help? That would mean that much more we could help them. And what if we had multiple friends? And that created a vision in my head - What if we had an entire community of people who could help? I had thought it wouldn't take much from a community of people. Even $5 a month from a large amount of people could create a small financial hub that could help people in similar circumstances. That's just the cost of a coffee house drink for most. My wheels started turning. I thought about it and had expressed this idea to a friend of mine one evening. We had talked about it and then had dinner. Well, a few days later, I got an envelope in the mail. It was a letter from my friend with words of support and a check for $60, which would equate to one year at $5 a month. The first thing I did was cry. This touched me so deeply that someone went through the effort of doing this to in essence say "I believe in you". That's all it took. That smallest amount of belief and support from a friend of whom I adored started the flame within me. I spent the next 9 months founding Kokku, Inc. as a 501c3 non-profit foundation and got it launched. AND I will never forget, as long as I live, how that small gesture of kindness and belief in me lit such a fire of passion in me.
Our online format was designed for everyone to see, hear, and feel your effort of empathy and concern for your fellow beings all over the country. You have the opportunity to see first hand where your generous donations go towards, and know that you were part of it.
Together, we can make the world what we all dream it can be. One person at a time, one dollar at a time, and one group effort at a time.
Members of the Kokku Community make suggestions each month on potential recipients of the monthly funds. You must be a member of the community in order to submit any possible monthly recipients for the funds. Usually a Kokku Ambassador will present the funds to each recipient. The contribution is on photo or video so that each of us within the Kokku community can see where our contributions end up first hand, and through the amazing capabilities of technology and social media, you can feel the gift of love you’ve given to someone or something in need.
When you become a member, you automatically have the ability to suggest a recipient of funds.
